taxes hit REALTORS® at the office. C.A.R. strongly opposes transfer taxes

issues and more in this section.

Housing
Opportunities: This area provides information about an area of
public policy that influences development trends and housing
affordability. The housing element is a local government's
blueprint for providing adequate housing to all income levels.
Local historic preservation ordinances can severely restrict a
homeowner's ability to remodel or refurbish. Transportation and
clean air legislation raise concerns about the development of
another layer of government, i.e., regional government, in the
local planning process. As the economy picks up pace, growth
control again becomes an issue in many local communities.

regulations that infringe on private property rights and increase
government bureaucracy. This area provides you with information on tree
protection ordinances, wetlands preservation, endangered species
protection, fire safe councils, and other issues.

regulations at the point-of-sale. REALTORS® oppose policies which place
additional burdens on the transaction process or which necessitate that
REALTORS® act as police for certain issues. This page provides you with
information on Megan's Law, the Transfer Disclosure Statement (TDS), agency
disclosure, inspections, retrofits and other point-of-sale/disclosure
issues.
